Burning Caskets released their newest work titled “To Burn A False Prophet”. Seven songs of pure Death Metal influenced by bands like Suffocation, Sinister, Aborted and (old) Deicide.
I couldn’t get away from the impression that “To Burn…” takes us back into the past of the Death Metal genre with slower rhythms, more variety in song-structures and lots and lots of rolling double bass.
I really enjoyed this release even though it didn’t break any speed limits. This one just made my head bang right from the start. It is that kind of record. Lots of heavy stuff with simple but engaging riffs to keep the songs attractive.
Even vocal wise it deserves a small credit. At first I didn’t even hear it, but Burning Caskets uses a second vocal that has a more thrash like sound outside of the usual grunt. That definitely added to the fact that this reminded of older US Death Metal.
The last thing I wanted to take note of was the last part of this release, which closes the album with a strong groove. Not to say groovy, but rock ‘n roll for sure.
